Individual Work
For this project I chose to photograph horse and rider combinations competing cross country, I chose to do this as it is something which I enjoy to do myself and I feel you can get some really good photos through it. I photographed a few horse and rider combinations and then chose which images worked best in a story format. However this was not my first idea, originally i was going to photograph different generations from the same family but unfortunately I didn't know any families which had a wide range of generations of the same gender. So after a lot of thought I decided it would be best to change my idea to something that I would be able to achieve.
In this assignment I have been using a Canon EOS 10D on manual mode with auto focus on, this is so that I could make sure the shutter speed was fast enough to capture the movement and not just blur it. I used a digital camera rather than a film because it was a lot cheaper and quicker to produce the images and they were also a slightly higher quality than they would have been if I'd used film.
I didn't have many problems whilst taking these photos but i did have to make sure i had positioned myself with my back to the sun so the photos didn't become too overexposed/masked with sunlight, this was not a major problem however and it was easy to solve.
Overall I am very pleased with how my final image turned out however if I were to re-do it I would try and use less pictures but making sure I didn't miss any bits out, I think this would improve my final image because then it wouldn't be as busy.

Group Work
For this project our group chose to create a stop motion which animated shoes and their laces going on an adventure, we photographed to shoelaces in all different locations so we had a variety to make our stop motion interesting.Originally however we were just going to create a stop motion of the shoes unlacing themselves and then lacing back up, but we thought that this wold be too boring and short so we used that idea for our mini task and then we expanded on it for our final piece.
We shot our photos on a Canon EOS 6D on a mixture of manual and auto focus, this was so that if the auto focus didn't focus on the laces without having to move the camera we could focus it ourselves. We also used a tripod for this project so that all our images were inline and didn't move so that it looked smooth and real when we put our stop motion together.
We had a few minor problems with the tripod in this assignment as it kept slipping down, this meant we had to keep re starting our stop motion, after a couple of attempts we decided to tape the head of the tripod onto one of the legs so that it stayed in position. This was not a major problem as it was easy to fix however it did get quite annoying.
I am pleased with our final stop motion as I think it is creative, however if we were to redo this task I would suggest getting a bigger tripod so the wait of the camera didn't make it tilt, by doing this it would be easier to make sure our images were all in the same position.
